Mise en place

Welcome to the first inaugural blog edition from Events by Marylee!!!

Mise en place (MEEZ ahn plahs) is a French term that means getting prepared.

January brings thoughts of getting organized, making New Year’s resolutions as well as planning and strategies for the year ahead with goals of what you want to accomplish. These annual activities brought to mind the culinary concept of mise en place

Chefs, Caterers and Event Planners live by lists, timelines, preparations and planning. It is how we make what we do look effortless and easy.

According to The New Professional Chef, Mise en Place:

“Means far more than simply assembling all the ingredients, pots and pans, plates and serving pieces needed for a particular period. Mise en Place is also a state of mind.  Someone who has truly grasped the concept is able to keep many tasks in mind simultaneously, weighing and assigning each its proper value and priority. This assures that the chef (event planner) has anticipated and prepared for every situation that could logically occur during a service period.”

This concept embodies the soul of Events by Marylee; Insightful Planning – Exceptional Results. We at events by Marylee, practice mise en place every day for every client.

So as you begin to plan 2018, think about ways you can incorporate mise enplace in your daily life. Lay out your clothes for the next day; make a “to do” list; map out your calendar for the year!

Maybe you or someone you know is having a milestone birthday that needs to be celebrated? An upcoming Graduation? Christening? House warming? Wedding? Wine Dinner? Private Chef Event? Please take a moment to reflect on your year and feel free to forward this email to anyone that might need assistance in planning or staffing event services. It would be our pleasure to assist them.

Sharing is Caring! Have them email me at marylee@eventsbymarylee.com.
