Try Something New to Beat the Winter Blues

Whether you call it Winter Blues, Doldrums, Cabin Fever or just plain boredom, here are some ideas and services from Events by Marylee that just might add something fun to your mid-winter weekend plans.  Football is over! Sunday afternoons are fair game and a perfect time to try something new.

Cooking Classes: These can be instructional directed by a professional friendly chef.  Have you ever wondered how to make that amazing dish you had in Italy? Learn the tips and tricks to do it yourself.  Or we can incorporate a hands on experience by including cooking competitions for small groups! Do you think you can cook better than your neighbor? Either way, the talented chefs at Events by Marylee can help you create a unique experience for you and your guests. A fun way to spend some time.

In addition, we can even offer Quick, Healthy cooking lessons for busy college students! We are open to your suggestions and happy to oblige. Cooking for food allergies and intolerances is also an option.

Wine Tastings and Dinners:  These can be organized in your home with a few friends or a location of your choice, including an intimate private dining room in Black Rock, CT if you want to get out of the house! We can introduce you to different grape varietals you are not familiar with as well as learn about wines from around the world. It is your choice as the experience is customizable and can include food pairings or just the instruction of a wine professional.

Bunco Night!  Have you heard of it? Bunco is a fun, social dice game played traditionally by 12 players divided into 3 teams of 4 players each. Want to give it a try? Give us a call! The dining room in Black Rock is available for you! Ladies’ Night or Men’s Night events are also a fun way to beat the winter blues!

Premium Private Chef Events:  This service has quickly become our most popular signature custom event. We have featured small VIP lunches and brunches as well as dinners for as few as four guests up to 35. The service includes custom menu development with your chef, shopping, and full preparation of the meal in your home with additional staff and rentals. Do you have a special anniversary? Tried all the restaurants in town? This option might be for you!

Home Cooking:  Do you like to cook and entertain yourself but could use some additional help with the cooking, service or clean up? It is our pleasure to assist you.

Fondue is fun, too!  As you may recall from last winter, we can help you create a fun night of Fondue! We have the pots! You supply the friends and together we can cook up some fun!

We hope the Ground Hog got it right this time, but just in case, we are here for you! Give us a call today! Happy Valentine's Day!

Here is another winter tip from a member of our team:

"I highly recommend a trip to The Westport Farmers Market.  It's open all winter in the Gilberties's Herb Gardens green house and is really worth the trip if you're not local. Lots of fresh produce, honey, rare mushrooms, prepared foods and scrumptious desserts. Chefs, they have a professional knife sharpener to perfect your blades.  For you carnivores, they offer organic meats and bone broth. Bask in the warm sunshine of the multiple greenhouses and take home a plant or a fragrant Myer lemon tree!

Let's support our farmers!"

Hope to see you all soon, Victoria
